Two Weeks on the Garden Isle

Greetings from Kauai!

It has officially been two weeks since our arrival to this island and to YWAM Kauai. For those of you1024px-Map_of_Hawaii_highlighting_Kauai who are unfamiliar with the island of Kauai, it is the oldest island in the Hawaiian Island Chain. It has been nicknamed “the garden isle” because of its plentiful rain and lush, vibrant plant life.

YWAM Kauai is located in Kilauea, a small town on the north shore of the island, where David and I are currently living. Outside of a commitment to run Discipleship Training Schools, YWAM Kauai is passionate about and invested in their local community, particularly the youth. Unfortunately, we are learning that the local people of Kauai face  serious challenges and spiritual darkness, despite their beautiful surroundings. These hardships are emphasized among Kauai’s youth, who come in contact with poverty, drug addictions, domestic violence, alcoholism, teen pregnancy and very high suicide rates.

Over the past two weeks, we have been able to join YWAM Kauai in local outreach. Below are some photos from these first two weeks. We have been blessed to be a part of the YWAM Kauai family as well as get to know so many wonderful people here in Kilauea and on Kauai.

As always, thank you for your encouragement, support and prayers.
